Auxiliary Complex is a publication featuring analysis and criticism on current culture, media, as well as personal musings surrounding mental health and the female experience. Started as a space of critical writing, Auxiliary Complex begins and invites readers into discussions based in nuance, sympathy, and deconstruction.
Meet The Author
Alaïa is a Vietnamese student from San Francisco, California. She always says she wants to go into journalism but it’s really culture writing she’s obsessed with — cultural criticism, actually (with each step deeper it gets harder to rationalize a planned major into Comparative Literature). Alaïa likes to talk about all things culture. People and what they create. She’s specifically focused on identities through digital media. Besides constantly jotting her thoughts down, she is interested in anthropology, law, and culture industry (and has a complicated relationship with Theodor Adorno).
In her free time, you can find her listening to indie rock and R&B, wearing mini skirts, and mouthing all the words to Legally Blonde: The Musical. Alaïa is a major romantic and an avid Antigone annotator (and also an alliteration appreciator).
